In exciting news for families across the region, as announced yesterday, the 2026 season brings forward two major financial initiatives designed to break down cost barriers and drive unprecedented participation, particularly in the junior and female playing ranks.

Free Footy for All Under-12s!

In a landmark commitment to junior development, the governing body and its partners have extended the FREE REGISTRATION initiative to cover all boys and girls up to and including the Under 12s age group.

This significant financial relief means that thousands of families will face zero registration costs for their children in the Mini and Mod League formats, which focus on safety, fun, and fundamental skill-building.

“Removing the fee for all players under 12 is the biggest investment we can make in the future of our game,” said a junior league spokesperson. “We want every child to experience the joy of teamwork and the benefits of an active lifestyle without parents having to worry about the sign-up cost.”

$100 Subsidy To Ignite Female Tackle Participation

In a targeted push to support the booming women’s game, a $100 registration subsidy will be applied to all female tackle players aged 13 and over for the 2026 season.

“Junior rugby league is such a great game for girls to build their skills, their confidence in the game, especially in a male-dominated field.” said Dragons NRLW 2025 player of the year, Madison Mulhall “It’s really awesome to see all of the girls get involved to build some fundamental life skills as well.”
